NEWSLETTER – JANUARY 2019

Monday, 28 January, 2019

I hope you all managed to get a restful break, recharged and ready to start the new term. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education and I look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure your children can achieve their highest potential. We recognise that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she

  • Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day.
  • Completes homework given by the teachers.
  • Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.
  • Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.

PUNCTUALITY AND SCHOOL HOURS
Please ensure children are dropped off at the correct time. It is extremely disruptive to the teacher and to the other pupils when a child arrives late for class. Pupils should be in their classrooms by 7:30am. The school gates will also close at that time. Children who arrive late must be signed in and escorted to their classrooms. All grade 1 and 2 pupils are to be collected between 12:30pm and 1pm from the south side of the hall. Grade 1 and 2 pupils will not be allowed to stay and wait for an older sibling to finish sport. If you organize for someone else to fetch your child, please send written authorisation or call the office to inform us of who is collecting your child. If your child is not participating in an afternoon activity and is not collected by 1:30pm he/she will be sent to prep and you must collect your child from the prep room.

BURSAR – PROOF of PAYMENT
Please note that proof of payment must be given or sent by email to the bursar for any payment that you make, no matter how small or for whatever reason, in order to identify who the payment is for in the bank statement. Her email address is bursar@twinrivers.co.zw

APPOINTMENTS
If you need to see your child’s teacher please fill in an appointment form with Mrs Kala in Reception. The teacher will then reply and give the form to your child with a date and time.

TEXTBOOKS
It was noticed that many of the textbooks returned at the end of the year had been returned in a shocking state. You, as parents, need to educate your children about the value of these books. Many of these come from overseas and are very difficult to replace as foreign currency is needed to replace any lost or tatty books.

CAR PARK
When parking in the car park please be considerate of others. Please do not double-park as you will hinder the free movement of vehicles. Please do not leave your valuables in the car as the school will not be held responsible for any loss of property.

NO parent is to drive on the field to collect children when it is raining. No parents are to wait in the quad (infant block) or in front of the Grade 4 classrooms.

Grade 6 and 7 children will no longer be collected from the ECD in the afternoon. Please pick them up from the collection point at the Primary School.

NO CHILDREN ARE TO WALK THROUGH THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANY TIME PLEASE USE THE PATHS

Cyberbullying is the use of technology to tease, humiliate, threaten and/or harass someone. It can take place through text messaging or social media. Cyberbullies might send mean comments, post embarrassing photos, or share private information about someone to humiliate or mock them online. Even if your child isn’t being cyberbullied, remind them that it is everyone’s job to prevent bullying and encourage them to take a stand and speak out.
